Elderly victim was approached by a white male 35-45 years old, rugged build, short brown/blonde hair, who uses the story that his seafood truck broke down and the food will spoil if he does not get it fixed. He then con's the elderly into "loaning" him $300. Suspect then goes with victim to the bank where money is withdrawn from the ATM or inside the bank. Suspect has used the name of "JOHN KANE" in several of the con's. The photo obtained was from the Uxbridge Unibank on 9/22/2006. There were 2 reports taken in Uxbridge and 1 in Northbridge with the same suspect. Suspect's sweatshirt displays the name "RALPH" on the front and possibly has a red sox emblem along with a company logo on the back. Any departments with similar incidents are asked to call the Smithfield Police.

The photo of this suspect know identified as John P. Kluth (dob 2/7/60) with addresses in Rhode Island was captured during a theft in Uxbridge not Smithfield. To date, the subejct has committed similar type scam in Northbridge, MA; Uxbridge, MA; Randolph, MA; Stonington, CT; and Smithfield, RI.

The Cranston, RI, PD arrested Mr. Kluth on 11/11/06 without incident.
