On 2/11/08 at approx. 3 p.m. there was an attempted murder at the greater Boston Chinese cultural center 437 Cherry St. In Newton. The suspect entered the center and said that he was looking for a female that he used to work with. He then entered the library area of the building and asked a worker if he could see a book. When the employee went to the shelf to retrieve the book he grabbed her from behind and began choking her until she fell unconscious. He then fled the area. He is described as a dark skinned asian male, approx. 40 yoa, thin build, approx. 5’5” tall, 120 lbs, wearing a black fleece hat and a black jacket. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Newton police department at (617) 796-2100.
