This person entered the Boston University Medical Campus Houseman Research Building and stole a medical student's black North Face backpack, containing a Dell Inspiron 4160 laptop computer and Panasonic CD player. He is a black male, late 20's to early 30's, approximately 5'08", 165 lbs., thin build, wearing a Carhart utility jacket.

As of October 21, 2004, the subject has been identified as Vernarda Smith. Vernarda Smith has been arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges related to this case. He is presently serving time at the Suffolk House of Correction for convictions in unrelated cases.
