On Monday 06/14/10 at approximately 14:28 hours, the Sovereign Bank on North Main Street (near Rte 495) was robbed. Suspect is described as a white male, mid 40’s, 5’10”, 190 lbs, wearing a green baseball cap, a grayish polar fleece jacket, blue wind pants, and carrying re-usable style grocery bags to put the money in (color blue, mesh material). Suspect passed a note (took back) written in block lettering with a blue magic marker and stated “Get me the money from the drawer, quickly, I don’t want to hurt you.” Male suspect fled the seen in an older Chevy S-10 Blazer color tan/light brown. The vehicle is believed to have no spare tire on the rear rack, a crease in the front passenger side quarter panel, and a NH temporary plate attached to the rear.

A suspect in a number of area bank robberies, including Monday's heist at the Sovereign Bank at 211 N. Main St., was arrested yesterday at a drug rehab center on the South Shore. Tips generated by security photos enabled police to track down Michael Bassett, 38, to a rehab facility in the Long Island section of Quincy. Bassett was being held last night at the Essex County Jail in Middleton on $100,000 cash bail. He is due to be arraigned Monday in Lawrence District Court on a charge of unarmed robbery.
