On Thursday, March 3, 2016, at approximately 1:09pm- Smithfield Police responded to the parking lot of Apple Valley Mall (445 Putnam Pike) in the area of Planet Fitness for a larceny from a vehicle complaint. On scene, the victim stated that an iPad, laptop, cash, his RI Drivers License, and numerous credit cards were stolen. At approximately 1:38pm, a purchase was made at Best Buy in North Attleboro, MA in the amount of $443.03. Pill+Black speakers and Beats Pill 2.0 Red were purchased. At approximately 2:09pm, a purchase was made at Kay Jewelers in the Emerald Square Mall for $1,999.99. A mens “Link gold chain” was purchased. At approximately2:59pm, a purchase was made at Home Depot in Attleboro, MA in the amount of $1,003.65. Several tools were purchased. It seems to be the same person in all three cases. A possible suspect vehicle is an older maroon/red Dodge Durango. On 02/01/16, Frederick Hosmer, dob 09/11/71, was released from the ACI. Before going into the ACI in October, Hosmer had a red Dodge Durango. Hosmer has been known to break into vehicles.
