On 11/24/2007 at 12:55 A.M., McKenzie entered the Days Inn located in West Springfield. McKenzie approached the front desk asking for change for a dollar bill. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, McKenzie pulled himself over the counter pushing the clerk backwards against the wall. McKenzie then removed the cash drawer and fled.
